Cologne startup against supply shortage of medicinal cannabis
Cologne, June 28, 2018 - The importer GECA Pharma GmbH is now supplying pharmacies nationwide with high-quality medical cannabis, thus making an important contribution to the care of critically ill patients.
Multiple sclerosis, severe pain and nausea in chemotherapy - these are just a few indications for which medical prescription of medicinal cannabis as a drug has been possible since last year. Only in justified cases may health insurance companies refuse to accept the costs of treatment.
Since the cultivation of pharmaceutical grade cannabis in Germany has not yet begun, it is sourced exclusively from abroad. Canada and the Netherlands are the main exporting countries. Cologne-based start-up GECA Pharma GmbH specializes in importing Dutch cannabis flowers of the Bedrocan and Bedrobinol varieties, as well as the granulated cannabis products Bedica and Bediol.
